Geelmuyden Kiese strengthens its energy offering with Mie Bredahl Christiansen

Geelmuyden Kiese is strengthening its energy advisory with the appointment of Mie Bredahl Christiansen as senior adviser and Director of Energy in the agency’s Public Affairs team. Mie will become part of Geelmuyden Kiese’s director team with responsibility for developing the agency’s energy advisory.

With the appointment of Mie Bredahl Christiansen, Geelmuyden Kiese strengthens its advisory at the intersection of energy, politics, regulation and strategic communications. Mie’s role will be to lead the agency’s continued development of advisory for companies and organisations in the energy sector.

She brings solid experience from the central government administration, Christiansborg and the energy sector. Most recently, she was Special Adviser to Minister for Transport Thomas Danielsen. Before that, she was Chief Adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Public Affairs Manager at Ørsted and political consultant at the Danish Agriculture & Food Council. She has also previously worked as a political staff member for Venstre at Christiansborg.

The appointment is part of Geelmuyden Kiese’s continued specialisation in political advisory within sectors of critical importance to society.

“The energy sector is one of the most important political and commercial fields in these years. The green transition, security of supply, electrification, infrastructure and Europe’s new security-policy reality mean that companies and organisations need advisers who understand the substance, the decision-making processes and the public agenda. Mie does.” says Mikkel Salgaard Bendtsen, CEO of Geelmuyden Kiese Denmark.

“Mie has a rare combination of experience from ministerial work, political advocacy and the energy sector. She knows the political machinery, she understands the complexity of the energy industry, and she knows how to turn difficult agendas into clear strategies. She will be an important part of our director team and of the continued development of our Public Affairs advisory,” he says.

Mie Bredahl Christiansen looks forward to advising clients at a time when energy is taking up an increasingly large part of politics, business and public debate.

“Energy is no longer only a sector-policy area. It is business policy, security policy, climate policy and geopolitics all at once. That makes the area both complex and enormously important. I look forward to being part of Geelmuyden Kiese and working with clients that need to navigate a reality where the political agenda and business are more closely connected than ever,” she says.

She points out that many players in the energy sector will in the coming years have to manage major political expectations, regulatory changes and a growing need for public and commercial legitimacy.

“There is a huge need to create more clarity in the energy debate. Many solutions are technical, long-term and difficult to explain, but they have a direct impact on citizens, businesses and the economy. Good public affairs advisory in the energy sector is therefore not only about access to decision-makers. It is also about understanding the agenda, building alliances and communicating so that complex solutions become relevant to more people,” Mie Bredahl Christiansen adds.

Mie Bredahl Christiansen joined Geelmuyden Kiese as senior adviser and Director of Energy on June 1. She succeeds the previous Director of Energy, Jesper Gronenberg, who will continue at Geelmuyden Kiese as a senior adviser.
